With six incredible SUVs to choose from, from the compact Kicks to the full-sized, luxury Armada, you're sure to find an SUV made by Nissan that's right for you and your family. Right in the middle of the lineup are the two wonders of unibody construction, the Nissan Rogue and the Nissan Murano near Akron .

Both models have the Nissan construction, feature set, and plush interior you've come to expect, but if you're trying to choose between the two, you need to know how they stand apart. Let's take a look at how these two mid-size SUVs stack up against each other for your family's needs.

Cabin Space & Capacity

Cargo Capacity

Both the 2021 Nissan Murano and 2021 Nissan Rogue can seat up to five passengers. Since the Murano is nearly 9 inches longer than the Rogue, it might not be surprising that it has a higher total passenger volume, at 108.1 cubic feet vs. the smaller car's 105.4 cubic feet. In addition, the Murano has more headroom in the backseat than the Rogue.

Even though the Murano is the bigger vehicle, the Nissan Rogue actually has more cargo space: 36.5 cubes behind the second row, versus the Murano's 32.1. With just two passengers, those sizes increase to 74.1 cubic feet in the Rogue and 67.0 cubic feet in the Murano.

If you tend to carry more cargo than people, the Rogue is a better option, but if you regularly haul kids to school or the game, or host a carpool to work, the Murano has more space for the passengers to stretch out. Additionally, the 2021 Nissan Murano colors available are not as much as the Nissan Rogue colors. Thus, the Rogue has more available options to choose from.

Towing Capacity

The new Nissan Murano towing capacity is at a great 1,500 pounds. This is a pretty impressive weight for such a fancy Nissan SUV. On the other hand, the Nissan Rogue has a towing capacity of 1,350. As you can see, the Nissan Murano has more weight to carry heavier equipment than the Rogue. So if you’re ready for a family vacation, getting ready to move, or even hauling your child off to college, the Nissan Murano has got you covered with amazing strength to carry through.

Powertrains & Fuel Economy

In the Rogue, Nissan offers a single powertrain good enough for most uses: a 2.5L 4-cylinder that produces 181 horsepower. It comes standard with front-wheel drive, but Intelligent All-Wheel Drive is an available option if you make a habit of driving off the beaten path. Either way, the Rogue's transmission is a responsive CVT with Sport and Eco modes.

The Nissan Murano engine is a more powerful 3.5L V6, which achieves 260 horsepower and 240 lb-ft. of torque. It's also connected to Nissan's Xtronic continuously variable transmission, and both front- and all-wheel-drive powertrains drive smoothly and quickly.

Of course, the heavier Murano rates less efficiently than its lighter sibling, so if you're worried about your gas budget, the Rogue might be better for you. If you like a heavier car for powering through traffic, though, a Murano might be a better bet.

Both the Nissan Rogue and Nissan Murano offer comfortable cloth, leatherette, or leather seats; Nissan Door to Door navigation system; NissanConnect® infotainment system; and integration with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™. For climate control, the Murano features two zones, while the Rogue features three; however, they both feature a remote engine start system.
